Will Miss His Good Words

If you read the blog comments you might have read Bernie’s name.  He passed in his sleep on Saturday night, his sister wrote to tell me, asked me to let David know.   Bern was my brother David’s best friend growing up in Morris Plains NJ in the ’60′s.  Bonnie said we brought a lot of smiles to him lately as he did us.  We are going to miss his sense of humor and generous heart.  He especially liked the Sept 3rd post so I am posting a butterfly for Bern today as  final arrangements are made in Kalamazoo.

I am sure he would be very happy to be remembered by this beautiful photograph—a symbol that we should enjoy life each day, as none of us knows when exactly it will end.

  4. A beautiful way to honor Bernie, I remember exactly where they lived – haven’t thought about that neighborhood in years. A lovely place to grow up. My sympathy to the Gzuizinga family.

I didn’t know him but I am the same age and it always makes me sad when somebody my age dies way too soon. Remember all the memories and know that he is still with you.

Thank you, Ruthie. I know that Bern would have been both embarrassed and honored. My mom spoke with David yesterday. It was so kind. Luckily because Bern had such a good and kind heart, we have lots of people who are remembering him along with us. Hug each other a lot.
