Weekly Photo Challenge: Boundaries

Boundaries.  Some people have none.

The creator of the challenge Ben Huberman says,”This week, let’s explore the creative potential of limits, borders, and dividers of all types.”

Here are a few visible from the archives

Follow Me to Forbes Field Vintage Sign

Saw this sign on the back wall behind the Cobra Kings band at Excuses on the South Side Friday night. The kitchen door is on the right, the spice rack a blur.

Some of you may know how Baseball in October is a big thrill in the city of Pittsburgh right now, after twenty one years without a winning season we have one now…. and then some!

Another game against the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow afternoon. On our home field of PNC Park. Everyone is hoisting the Jolly Roger flags and cheering them on.

Forbes Field Forever is a website which maintains the memories although the actual field is no longer there, but the brick wall with the painted distance numerals is still in Oakland, covered with some ivy. Home plate in a U of Pitt building floor, covered with plexiglass for all to see. GO BUCS!

50th Anniversary at Forbes Wall in Oakland- October 13th- 1 PM

The radio will be playing the game.  Starts at 1 and the home run hit by Mazeroski will play at 3:36 PM.  Lots of the team will be there.  My friend Sue will help interview and point out players for a friend who is filming the occasion. Very exciting, And Happy Birthday to Marianne who was at the game with her Uncle Bobo in 1960.  Learned at the Rick Sebak lecture that no beer was sold inside the ball park at that time. You could buy it outside and bring it in. So not the actual spot of the wall where  the home run went over but a piece of the wall to commemorate the game.(click for details)

When the Pirates Wete Great.....1960
Going to be a crowd here today to listen to the rebroadcast and celebrate.

Forbes Field/Baseball History

A little experiment. First slideshow inserted into a post. Eight slides of Forbes Field wall and homeplate. The huge print with Bill Mazeroski’s signature in the middle of the George Silk photo of fans cheering from atop the Cathedral of Learning.  Last day of the Oakland tour. What I was photographing before I found the multiple Cathedral Learning Reflections in the Katz School of Business glass.
