Spider Traps Stink Bug

Not sure if your part of the world is infested with these undesirable STINK BUGS but they are trying to get in every window and crack around here.  I looked at what I thought was a giant spider and he is good sized, hanging in a web out on the columns on the porch, but there he was grabbing onto one of those armor plated stink bugs.   When the kids were small we’d read a book from the library called  Be Nice to Spiders by Margaret Bloy Graham. Tonight’s shot- they were both outside. I left them alone. But a stinkbug seems like a poor choice for a meal.

Another one for the Nature scrapbook. I like the shadow from the porch light.

  1. That is an ugly picture!
Yes, we are innidated with stink bugs. Had the bug man in the spray the outside of the house. Control is all one can hope for…

  2. Haven’t noticed any stink bugs here in Indiana yet. Your picture is perfect for the month of October as it really gets creepy with Halloween on the way!

  3. I catch 1 stinkbug a day and flush it. They are worse in Maryland. I have always read that they don’t bite but my son near D.C. felt something on his back and it bit him before he smashed it. It left a welt like a mosquito bite.

  4. I witnessed on my porch a big spider trap a stink bug. He started to try and eat it but then noticed the aweful smell… So since the spider was just playing with the stink bug, they both were smashed! I hear to eliminate stink bugs is to spray them with Dawn dish detergant. I’m also going to buy stocks in Dawn since there’s soooo many stink bugs! Great job Ruth!

  5. Don just keeps catching the stink bugs and threwing them back outside. I told him it is probably the same ones coming back in.

  6. Creepy! I can’t imagine what a stink bug tastes like, that poor spider didn’t know what he was getting himself into. At least it seems like you were safe since they’re both outside. Stink bugs are the worst!

  7. ew, i can decided which i despise more, the spider or the stink bug. my cat caught a stinky bug for me the other day and was gagging on it! must be a yucky meal for sure!

  8. The more I flush them the more I see! They are EVERYWHERE and we can’t get rid of them! I was just told they came from Pittsburgh.
