NOLA, not shot ON Mardi Gras! Want to see the real deal in real time? Travel on over to Carla’s One Wild and Precious Life blog with parades, floats and beads, dogs dressed up and crazy fun, her mom visiting (from my old hometown in Jersey-WOOT!) for her first Mardi Gras. You will enjoy seeing Mardi Gras as it happens. My photos shot when I was visiting for a photography show at New Orleans Photo Alliance in June 2009.
Was there a shortage of powdered sugar? Those beignets look like they could use some more. 🙂 There’s no other place on Earth like New Orleans!
Happy Fat Tuesday Ruthie. Headed out to find some Paczkis. No problem finding them in Chicago on this day but in Florida? May be a challenge. Love beignets too.
Great photo essay, Ruth, and thanks for the places to “click!”
Great shots.
When I realize it’s Mardi Gras I know I have to start thinking about getting ready for Passover.
Happy Fat Tuesday! Those beignets are making my mouth water. YUM!
Takes me back to a wonderful week in 1951 when New Awlins was such an excitement and great jazz everywhere – dinner at Antoines and breakfast on the levee. Yum. Here’s to Bourbon and Conti where it all congealed. Thanks for the memory. Lois
I love NOLA’s photographic study of the New Orleans. 😉
Wonderful pictures that bring back great memories. Thanks, Ruth.
A nice collection of varied shots.
What a delight – to see someone’s beautiful photo essay, and be able to say “I’ve BEEN THERE!” “I’ve Seen That!” 🙂
mmmm-mmmm-mmmm ~ beignets and coffee ~ soooo worth the wait in the drizzle last summer… Thanks for the memories!
