Portable, lightweignt. Able to fit in a small bag instead of a huge one. Not so bulky.
Interchangeable lenses. A postive review all around.
You don’t always want to lug heavy DSLRs and weighty (but wonderful) glass around your neck.
A phone camera isn’t sufficient as an alternative.
AND there was the bonus of a hefty instant rebate at time of purchase.
I’d been looking and thinking about mirrorless cameras for awhile.
Reading reviews, I thought it would be a Fuji but the SONY a5000 had an affordable 20.1 Megapixel price that seemed fortuitous.
I’m satisfied with the results so far. Will keep experimenting.

Reminds me a bit of the still life paintings i have seen in museums.
You should have a lot of fun with your new toy!! I’m mirrorless all the way. Even my Sony full frame is now mirrorless. 🙂 🙂 About the same size as a normal DSLR but a lot lighter. Have fun playing.

I have the Sony a7ii. It is an amazing camera. It just came out the end of December. It was on pre-order so when it came out I got it right away. Anyhow, I’m amazed at the ease of use. It feel good in your hand. I had a Nikon D80 for years then moved to a Nikon mirrorless. And this seemed huge at first (after the mirrorless Nikon). But it took me only a day to fall in love with it. One thing I’m finding with the full frame is that it takes more information, of course, and I am not doing near the post processing I had to do with the smaller cameras. My only complaint is the batteries don’t last super long. So make sure you have two extra. On a long day’s shoot you will blow through at least one battery if not two. But that is easy to take care of.
I went with sony because my first digitals and pre-dlsr cameras were all Sony and I still like so many of those photos. I decided to go with this new Sony and I am so pleased I did.
