Enjoying a bit of vacation with the family.
After I posted the Pyrex bowl and the vanilla and Irish butter and raspberries, I remembered this post from August 2009.
The original post had zero likes, oh my and ONE comment from a reader with a single reply from me.
I still have glass pyrex bowls that my grandmother gave me for my wedding shower some 41+ years ago. I use them every day. I have also let dough rise in the larger one.
I love these bowls! They are so reminiscent of my childhood in the 1950’s! I have a set — I can’t remember if it’s my grandmother’s or my Mom’s. I’ve given them as presents at several weddings, but they’ve become hard to find in antique malls. They feel so nice, and so clean! What’s fascinating is the the color eventually starts to rub off, especially on the blue one. I don’t know if its because of the color itself, or because the blue one is used the most. Thanks for posting them!
Thank you for your nice words today. They are just as you say and a pleasure to use.
Fun memories! I have three ‘nesting bowls’ – butterfly gold, with a white floral motif on the side. They are numbered on the bottom with the sizes – 401, 402, and 403. According to the internet, they are from 1979 – and that is likely when I bought them. I think we use at least one of them every day!
Beautiful blows, and a great picture. My home is made up of very ordinary objects that remind me of so many things. Their value is invisible to anyone else.
I love the color-coordinated fruits in each bowl. If I had known you back in 2009, I would have left a comment on your post. 🙂
