Wonderful memories! Yum!
Isn’t it wonderful to be able to recall these wonderful memories. Love rhubarb. Have some growing in the backyard.
What happy thoughts rhubarb can bring. I’ll have to check into that jelly recipe.
Dear Ruth. As you know your blogs bring back memories for mebas well. My father was from Brooklyn. Joe and family lived in Mahattan. That said, the Village just might be my favorite place in NYC. I was 12 years old in 1960 when I first started listening to folk music so MacDougal come to mind. Remembering The Gaslight Club, Kettle of Fish, Dave Von Ronk, Dylan, PP&M, Richie Havens (for Matt), Washington Square Park, NYU (the NYU students always seemed so cool), the peace movements, and on and on. Hello to Mary. How fortunate you are to have a fantastic sister. The children are fortunate to have a loving Aunt as well. I guess I better stop. Comments on Bleecker and Rhubarb jam and warm bread on hold for now. Thanks Ruth.
Don’t think I ever had rhubarb but I remember my mom and grandmother making strawberry jelly and peach jelly – the aroma lasted for days.
Love the “then-and-now” pics. It’s good to appreciate history.
