I saw the announcement on Sunday
The church bells rang out for more than 5 minutes.
First there was a little play telling the story of St. Martin and singing hymns about St. Martin.
THE congregation filled with children went outside to follow St.Martin riding on the horse. A companion horse trotted behind. The children carried paper lanterns, some with candles but many with tiny LED or flashlight or tealights inside. More singing and walking in the procession to Winterfeld Platz.

A beautiful way to honor a saint
Ceromonial peace and beauty. Must be a an age old religious tradition. Obviously St. Martin is significant. I do not know of him. I need to read more. Learning as I go due to your photos. Thanks Ruth.
