We’re down to less than six full days before the 25th. Should I title this post Procrastination is an Art Form? Last year I gave my son-in-law a box of balls of yarn. He asked for a sweater. I’ve inflicted my hand knitted gifts on numerous unsuspecting recipients so when I get a specific request, it’s a thrill. My one son said”Ma, I think we’ve got enough hats.”
To blog it not to blog last night? Priorities? I’m getting three grandkids as houseguests starting today. I can’t knit a patten where I have to check the chart and the count very well while hostessing . Mindless knitting I can do in the company of others.
So it’s crunch time. I was determined to finish those sleeves before I went to sleep. Phew. I’m pretty sure one is a bit wider than the other.
James will get this sweater by Christmas. It can’t be in pieces. Joanne told me how to cast on the fronts and back and knit all at the same time so no side seams.
Plus, I’m headed to photograph the house moving adventure.
Will I make it? Stay tuned

I still have sweaters my Mother made from 35 years ago. Still look as nice as the day she knit them!
Cool that you can still wear your mothers hand knit sweaters
I hit them with the ‘ball remover’ shaver every few years. Good as new! No store-bought piece of clothing has EVER stood up to my Mom’s knitting, crocheting or sewing. I still have a few sewn pieces I can’t part with, but don’t wear, as they are too small or too dated (70’s called, it wants it look back 😉) Patchwork, flared pants will make a comeback…. right ??

Love the term knitting chicken. I’ve returned to knitting after a long break, so much has changed! Giant balls of wool, self striping colours, circular knitting needles, there’s been so many changes. I have the wool, I have the needles, I have the patterns, I just need to crack on with something!
Such s lovely endeavor to return to, Knitting. Be sure to post what you’re working on so we can encourage you. Something will spark your interest. Since I retired I watched YouTube videos and taught myself how to knit two socks at a time on one long circular needle (magic loop). A bit of a tangle at first. I like watching The Grocery Girls podcast from Canada on YouTube when I need inspiration or motivation. Elizabeth Zimmerman said“Properly practiced, knitting soothes the troubled spirit, and it doesn’t hurt the untroubled spirit either.”
Thanks, some great tips to bear in mind. I must admit a circular needle does sound bewildering, but I won’t knock it until I’ve tried it!
I use circulars almost exclusively now even for straight pieces. Never worry about misplacing a single needle as they’re connected. Sometimes I like a slick steel nickel plated and other times the hold and “tooth” of a bamboo. I still have tons of mostly aluminum straight needles but they just sit in a box now. I never thought much about needles until maybe 5 years ago. I’ve broken a lot of wooden Double pointed when I started socks. They were so skinny and vulnerable. Best of luck with whatever you start.
