I’ll admit, I didn’t know who Chuck Taylor was

I’ve heard his name for years but never bothered to find out who he was.  The first athlete endorsed shoes- Since 1922, Chuck Taylor’s  high top basketball shoes by Converse have been popular. I’d heard people refer to wearing their “chucks”.

Here’s a blogpost link to see  his photo and a book about Chuck Taylor

Today my grandson Jack and I went shoe shopping for his upcoming birthday (soon to be 13). He asked for these classic shoes and after we bought them, he wore them home. In 1921 Charles “Chuck” Taylor, an American semi-professional basketball player, joined Converse as a salesman.[5] Within a year of Taylor’s arrival, the company had adopted his ideas for improvements to the shoe’s design to enhance its flexibility and ankle support. The restyled shoe also incorporated distinctive All-Star logo on the circular patch that protected the ankle. After Taylor’s signature was added to the ankle patch as his endorsement, they became known as Chuck Taylor All Stars, the first celebrity-endorsed athletic shoe.-wikipedia
