By the Dawn’s Early Light- Opening Day

As I was driving to school, crossing the Liberty Bridge, I decided to make a right turn up McArdle  Roadway to Mt. Washington and shoot the city from the Duquesne Incline Platform.  Traffic didn’t seem too thick. I knew I could do it.

Time tight,  the light so nice and the next Opening Day would be a year away.   You saw the view from inside the park on yesterday’s post.

A decision, a moment, you know you’re a photographer.

And as I was standing there I realized I’m witnessing the sun rising, coming up behind the buildings. It didn’t take too long.

I had to wait to shoot the sun as it peeked through.  Not exactly Stonehenge in NYC but a thrill just the same!

PNC Park was a happy place as the Pittsburgh Pirates won in the 10th Inning.  (sorry Chicago John) You can see the Ballpark lights glowing on the left hand side of the photos.

As I looked out the window, I thought a lot about a cool book my sister gave to the kids about Bernoulli’s PrincipleBernoulli’s principle

Aerodynamics is amazing to me.

Sad Tulip in a Swan Neck Vase

This lone tulip was left out of the water overnight. I tried to revive it, see if it could stand up again. Gave it a drink.

The curved lines seem to repeat.

My dad gave me two of these vases ages ago.
The students have been photographing the white tulips and painting them in Photoshop elements
to make them a color.

But What’s a Hoogie?

Submarine sandwiches are called lots of things – depending on where you live.

A grinder, a hoagie, a sub, a hero, a blimpie- to name a few.

Last Sunday afternoon,  I filled up the tank in Clintonville, Ohio  before heading to Pittsburgh and saw this sign.

A new name or a typo? Well,no typewriter was involved but a misspelling? or intentional naming of a new type of sandwich.

Shot from inside the car through the windshield. With the iPhone.

My DIL said, why didn’t you go in and ask them. Never occurred to me.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Reflections

Reflections.  There are so many reflections in my archives, I could do a postaday for a year with that theme. Here are some new ones and a few familiar ones.

I know I am drawn to them.  Trying a tiled mosaic today for a change.
