Marking Growth on the Kitchen Woodwork

Visiting my two families in Ohio, I noticed the pencil line markings with dates, documenting the grandkids’ growth. Cicadas in Columbus Ohio

I’d not experienced the cicadas incessant sounds until I came out here for a visit. The trees are filled with the red eyed insects. It’s been 17 years since they’ve emerged. Here an article about this species, not to be confused with the annual cicadas.

They are everywhere.

Start Them Early – Guest Blog

Guest Blog photo shot, taken by Grandson Charlie, who’ll turn six on the 25th. Sunday afternoon I arrived for a visit and we were in the back seat while his mom drove. He asked if he could use my phone to take pictures. I deleted the close up ones of me but thought this shot taken from his car window was a good one.

Unretouched photo captured by Charlie.
