These Were Big in the 19th Century

When is the last time you used a paperweight?

Paperweights in a digital age.

I opened my China cabinet and saw three. The glass one in front seemed to almost glow. My sister gave Matthew the Dandelion suspended in clear resin and the glass orb with the bubbles was from my maternal. grandmother.

Then I remembered I had a book about paperweights in my living room.

Chasing Rainbows

It was an intense thunderstorm. I said I bet there will be a rainbow.

We left the Fireside Public House and saw this rainbow
Steve was driving down Broad Street
The East Liberty Post Office where I Mail Stuff
The intersection of Broad and East Liberty Boulevard
Looking down Stanton Avenue
I was shooting away
By the Farmhouse on Farmhouse Drive
Steve drove us to the Highland Park Reservoir .

The double rainbow is in reverse color order he pointed out to me. Wow. I did not know that

A Nut Dish

Would believe I have a nut dish? Just the one.

A boat shaped Lenox nut dish.

Steve had a container of mixed nuts and I saw it and thought, wait a minute, somewhere in a China closet there is a designated dish to hold nuts.

I’m serious. A wedding gift in 1974, it was paired with that lidded Lenox candy dish I posted the other day.

An added spoon would be the best way to serve the nuts so people don’t stick their hands in the dish.

The Gift of Greens Inspired Simple Salad

My friend and gardener extraordinaire Erin brought us some lettuce and snap peas from her garden. She was worried her lettuce would bolt due to the extreme high temps we’re having.

I washed, drained and wrapped them in towels and put in the fridge.

Remember the post of the tuna balsamic simple sandwich with chopped sweet onion, tomatoes and Parmesan cheese?
