  1. Great stuff. So nice to make your acquaintance. My blog is at designedforsuccess.wordpress.com
Will have you all over at some point. Anna told me my garage was a mess. (It is). I love kids candor.

      • I;m writing an article for CBS Local Best of Pittsburgh entitled,” Upcoming Exhibits For Kids In Pittsburgh.” Where are your photos available for viewing other than the wb site? I must chose the best five artists in Pittsburgh and your work is amazing. Any information will be appreciated and the article is due on the 10th of June. Thanks in advance but I need more information so I scan tell Pittsburgh all about what you do.

      • Thanks for considering my photography to be included in your article. As you can see, I’ve blogged photographs ( many of Pittsburgh) everyday for the past six years. Although I have had a couple is shows of my work, the blog is the place to view my photographs. I am finishing up my 26th year of teaching in the Pittsburgh Public schools, the past three at Carrick High School teaching photography. By keeping a daily photographic practice, I was able to inspire my students.

    You’re very creative and inspiring.
I just found your site recently, and I hope that you continue to add photos in 2012.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.
    Paul

    • Thanks Paul. Today was post # 819 and I hope to continue in the New Year. Thanks for looking and I tried to see if you had a blog but couldn’t find the address so I could check it out. Appreciate your taking time to write a nice comment. Best, Ruth

  10. Hi Ruth-I’m totally amaized at the Sion Abbey photo dated 11/10. I’m trying unsuccessfully to contact them to see if I can visit, either on my own or need a guided tour. They have no e-mail address and no postings on their site http://www.syonabbey.org after 2007. Were you able to visit the Abbey or have contact info? Would appreciate it very much.
    Thanks,
    Sharon

  11. Hi there Ruth,
Thanks for taking the time to stop by my little corner of the Blogosphere and for the follow. Your support is greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoyed you visit and look forward to seeing more from you.
    Have a great day, 

  12. Namaskaram Ruth von einer Bonnerin die jetzt in Sued Sued Indien lebt 🙂 Your comment on MD’s site regarding the “wildschwein on the spit” brought me here to you. Follow you now. Und ich hoffe, es ist noch nicht zu spaet – Alles Gute fuers Neue Jahr! 🙂

  13. Was looking around your blog and I like it! I’m an amateur photographer with the Rebel T6 with the 18-55 lens and a 50mm STM lens, but Im saving up to get a 24-70mm lens!!

I like your work, gives me motivation 🙂

    • You will love the versatility of the 24-70. Thanks for your visit and good words. Love that you received motivation.

  14. I really like your cover photo. I visited Pittsburg in the late 1980s, unfortunately I am unaware of any photos from my visit. Beautiful and compelling image. I always enjoy seeing bridges and bodies of water.

  15. Your photos are wonderful! What advice would you offer us budding photographers with no formal training? Btw, I grew up in Sharpsville/Hermitage area about an hour north of Pittsburgh…always nice to meet up with folks from your neck of the woods!

    • Get out there in different lights and shoot, shoot, shoot. What looks good? Makes you feel something or is the resulting photo a z-z-zzzzz?lesrn as much as you can about light. There is lots free on the internet about different aspects of photography. You don’t need fancy equipment. A book by Nick Kelsh how to photograph your life is used online.

  16. well Ruth, I have been following you for a few years now and never made it to this page – and did not know you used to teach art! I knew you were an Educator – but did not realize the subject – anyhow, just wanted to leave a comment and say (again) that i am glad we connect in blog land… so fun

  17. Believe it or not, I made it to your About page earlier today and purchased Conversate. The Lady of the River was unavailable but I’ll have to get your poems. These seriously cold days have afforded more time for blogging as I’m home and knitting or reading with intermittent device/ computer time. And cooking.

  18. Nice to meet you, Ruth. We just visited Pittsburgh for the first time ever, despite living only 4 hours away in northern Virginia, in early March. We loved it. I love your header photo of the Point and Three Sisters Bridges!

  19. Hi dear Ruth,
being back in Dessau I am thinking about you? How is spending time with your family in Berlin?
Did you have a beautiful Easter?
Evelyn (plan from Reykjavik to Berlin)

    • Easter was lovely, Evelyn. Being with my Berlin family is lots of fun. I’m so glad to hear from you. I hope all goes well with your impending move and your kitty is fine. And the rest of expecting your sweet baby. Meeting you made the flight delightful. All the best, Ruth

  21. Hi and quite an impressive list of cameras there.
I have a camera…couldn’t tell you the make or model, but, sometimes I get okay photos. I cheat by using photo apps… I call it my digital art.
I look forward to maybe learning some new tricks from you x

  22. Hi Ruthie. Just found you as I was googling Harvest Gold and Avocado Green. I would love to use one or two of your photographs to illustrate one of my blogs about Harvest Gold. Normally i would put in the caption where i got the photo from with a link to your site. May I share? Please advise. Thanks….Jane Dagmi, Editor in Chief, Designers Today.

  23. I stumbled on your blog while searching for photos of Med Flight helicopter landing at Riverside Hospital in Columbus, OH, to incorporate into an upcoming motivational speaking engagement. I never expected to find the exact photos I was seeking, but I did – on your blog. Your photos from July 1, 2015 post are beautiful and are exactly what I was seeking. I’d like to request permission to use the two photos in an upcoming presentation. The point I will be making in that moment is understanding the purpose of your work. These photos are personal to me – I used to work in the IT group at that hospital, and the helicopter landing pad was right outside my window. It served as a constant reminder of WHY I was doing what I was doing. BTW, it was a thrill to see your blog cover photo since I used to live in Pittsburgh – and still do in my heart. Please let me know if you would be open to allowing me to use these two photos and how you would like to be acknowledged and/or compensated. Thanks!
