First American to Score 500 Goals and 1000 Points in Hockey

Joe Mullen.  Hockey legend.

Hockey Hall of Fame 2000.

The first American to score 500 goals and also to score 1000 points in hockey (which happened at the Civic Arena as a Pittsburgh Penguin)

When I was with Steve at his conference in Philadelphia, there was a very excited young man on the elevator who had just gotten an autographed puck from Joe Mullen, former  Pittsburgh Penguin (now assistant coach for the Philadelphia Flyers.

After I got to the hotel room I thought I’m going down to the bar and ask Mr. Mullen for an autographed puck for Bobbijo’s friend Julie Ann who is running marathons and raising funds for Cystic Fibrosis research.  Team Kaelyn’s Kure has an invitation for the Cystic Fibrosis Fundraiser April 18th and there will be an auction.

Mr. Mullen was gracious and signed the puck you see in the photograph below.  I’m getting it to Kaelyn’s mom, Julie Ann  so they can add it to the Hockey items at the fundraiser.

Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Mullen.

By the way. Steve and his Dr. friend,  shook your hand at the old Pittsburgh airport, before security measures.  You got off the bus and the fans met the team, cheering your Stanley Cup 1991 win!!!
