My friend Donna and I had an adventure today.
Donna accompanied me on the Steel ValleyYarn Crawl. I picked her up and we went to the Dor-Stop (in Dormont) for a freshly grated potato pancake and eggs breakfast, downed some coffee and then put the address for Tonidale Yarn and Needlecraft store in Oakdale PA into the GPS and we were off!
Meet Ingeborg Saveikis She was incredibly knowledgable, patient and showed us around as we oohed and ahhhed at the wide variety of yarns in her shop. We received a couple of free patterns and collected the pin for the bag and had the passport stamped.
We felt inspired as we started the day.

Aren’t you the busy knitting bee! I’ve always been envious of those who are skilled in such arts. When I was a boy, I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle. It took most of the summer for me to recuperate. To help me from getting too stir-crazy, my mother taught me a simple stitch and gave me a big ball of yarn. Over the next many weeks, I knitted one very long scarf!
Thanks for sharing your childhood memory of knitting, Russell. Will get back to regular unpredictable posts soon😀
It sounds like you and Donna had an amazing day! So many beautiful colors of yarn. PS I love the For-Stop
Thanks Sue
Itt was an amazing day. Such great company and an adventure to remember. Thanks, Ruthie.
Love all the colors!
You are meeting some interesting people.
When I was a child one of my friend’s moms had a wheel to spin yarn – and I remember gingerly stepping on the petal and making the wheel turn. Thanks for including the photo – it brought back some lovely memories.
