My blogging friend Audrey of Minnesota Prairie Roots wrote a poignant Memorial Day post Remembering, Honoring, Grieving on Memorial Day
She asks, “Who do you honor on this Memorial Day?”
Here’s my response to her question.

My sister Mary ordered a Commemorative Brick at the WWII Museum in New Orleans. as a memorial tribute to Uncle Alan.

A little reminder why it’s a day off.
Lovely post. Let us all remember those lost in the service of their country.
Yes. Even if it’s years later after the wars.
Beautiful post, sometimes we all need reminders of the significance of traditions. gcr
Thanks for looking and writing today.
nice post Ruth…so important to remember
Sylvia, you are so right. Thanks for your visit today.
I remember teaching the kids in my class about the meaning of Memorial Day. I wanted them to know it was more than a day off.
Good Sue. I hope they remember your important lesson.
Many members in my family . Some I found threw Ancestry from way back and ones I remember that were close to me.
Aww thank you for sharing.
Enjoyed Audrey’s post. Very well written. I plan to visit my grandfathers grave tomorrow. He served in WWI. My uncle served in Korea. Both came home thankfully. Nice to see all the flags in the cemetery remembering those who served. God Bless. Dc
Thank you dc for your thoughtful words today ❤️
Audrey wrote a beautiful post, I remember my son and uncle who was a POW twice. All the men and women who lost their lives serving our country and the wounded Veterans.
Thank you for remembering, Carrie.
Thank you for both reading my blog post and also for sharing about your son and uncle.
I am remembering a young man from our town. He went to school with Jeremy. Marine Sgt. Nathaniel S. Rock. He died in Iraq in 2005.

Awww thank you for the link to honor Jeremy’s school mate.
I attended our memorial service in town located at the gazebo and our WWII monument. We listened to a guest speaker, singers and local band play, and the names of those we have lost that have served. My father in law is a member of our American legion and does the gun salute. Wreaths are placed as well as one in the river for the navy. The service continues at the cemetery and ends at our local legion.
What a perfect way to give tribute to fallen service members who have served. Thank you for sharing about your Memorial Day, Alicia.
We have similar days here, but I don’t honour anyone, I don’t know anyone who fought in war, or long gone relatives.
Thanks for writing Leanne. I appreciate your visits.
