Porec, Istria, Croatia. Summer 2008. While visiting Matthew we drove to Istria from Zagreb and had many adventures. I bought the large pink doily and some of the little pieces for the women in my knitting group from the same timeframe. I declared her Master Craftswoman of Crochet and not sure if there are various levels but was thinking along the lines of say, Master Gardener. But then Master could sound masculine so added the Craftswoman part. Another post I will show you her kitchen that I photographed. She invited us in. I wish I had purchased a few more items when there. Photographed by Matthew S. McGrath. (I was in the original photograph but I cropped myself out!)
How about Mistress Craftwoman. Very nice.
Those doilies are beautiful and the picture shows her pride. I love it.
I have one of her beatiful doilies on my coffee table!
Crocheting has always been a mystery to me -one needle, a piece of yarn and this incredible piece of art appears
Great shot, makes me think of the lacemakers in Venice on the island of Burano.
I immediately thought “Italy” too! Funny. 🙂
I would absolutely call her a master at her craft – wow!
She is as beautiful as her crochet! Wonderful pick for your “series.”
Makes me think of the lace makers in Brugge, Belgium. Talent everywhere!
Like others, love the pride in this face!
My grandmother made me one just like the one in the upper left hand corner. What a talent. Wish I could crochet like that.
What an unbelievable talent! I was fortunate enough to watch a few women create lace while visiting Bruges. The image in my mind is one that I’ll never forget. Thank you fo sharing this with us.
for sure a Master Craftswoman of Crochet
