Weekly Photo Challenge: Mine

This week’s photo challenge is MINE. The first photo is someone else’s MINE.

The second part of the post are MINE- my feet in the hammock on the porch, my shadow, my view from the front porch, my coffee ice cream cone, my junk drawer contents, my fancy toaster I received on my 50th- a self-portrait of stuff.

Nothing illustrates the Weekly Challenge of Mine better than the following phenomenon.  In Pittsburgh when it snows, everyone reserves the parking space they shoveled.  The most popular place holder?  A chair!  No one dare move it.  Fortunately I have a driveway.  Parking in the snow is serious business around the city and the chair screams MINE!!!

  4. I’ve seen chairs reserving parking spots my whole life, but this is the first time I’ve seen someone’s name on the chair. You go, Kate Sullivan!

  5. Love the idea of the chair reservation. I never heard of such a thing. If people did that here in Africa, the chair would be gone in no time. 🙂 I wish I was sitting in a hammock,, and eating ice cream, right now. 🙂

  7. Love your Mine slideshow, your shadow being my favorite. We have the same reserved parking system here, Ruth, although chairs are only 1 of many place-holders. People put out all kinds of junk and woe to the person that moves it. Each year, the city makes pronouncements that it is illegal to do it and that they will treat the stuff as garbage and pick it up. Sure they will.

  12. Is that an xray of your face in the series? I’ll admit it kind of creeped me out. But appropriate October, I suppose.
