It’s amazing to see such large amounts of coal still shipped by barge. I noticed it in Michigan last Summer. A shipment was heading to a soon to be closed power plant. WHen you see how large those barges are, it’s a wonder that there aren’t more barge-bridge mishaps. Great photos, RUth.
It is great to get to know a city in this manner. Not only it is virtual travel but it is also seeing the views thru the eye of the photographer which is always superior to post cards. Thank you!

These barge photos are very interesting. Looks like a beautiful waterway to gaze out upon from the buildings on the other side.
I have not seen coal in so long. My first thought was to be daring and jump off and see if I could land like they do it the movies 🙂 HA!!
