Crossing the street, a long block from school. I saw the doe cross first and sure enough she was followed by her two young ones. They were not afraid of me and took their time crossing Parkfield Street. Someone’s back garden was probably breakfast.
I always feel so lucky when I see something like that! Especially without our puppy around, I’m really enjoying the birds in our yard more.. and I’d love a few of these hanging around!
They are so cute – but also quite dumb. I feel sorry for them when I see them in public areas like this – I suspect their lives will be cut short… π
Deer are lovely. You must have been very patient.
Nice captures, Ruth. Although you hear of deer in the city, it’s always a surprise to see one. To see a doe and her fawns would be a complete shock.
Those are great photos – the little ones are very spindly!
These sightings are always so charming and so poignant at once.
Thanks Ruth E – I needed a smile to start my day.

What an amazing sight to see.
Sweet shots
I did not realise deer live in the city … but of course there are kangaroos around Canberra too π

No wonder I haven’t seen them lately – they must have gone up the other side of the hill.
