A set of terrific photos. The angle of the light, the variety of colors in the clouds, and even the U. S. Steel water tank. Excellent photos. In particular, the U.S. Steel water tank brings back fond memories for me. I went to Pitt from 1965-69, and I worked in steel mills in and around Pittsburgh every summer. During the summer of 1967, I worked as a hod-carrier at U. S. Steel in Homestead. (The blast furnaces were refurbished and re-lined with bricks about every 7 or 8 months. Someone has to carry the bricks to the bricklayers. That was my job.) The steel mills in Pittsburgh enabled me to pay for college (plus two scholarships!). It’s sort of interesting that I’ve lived in California for about 46 years, and 1967 was the “Summer of Love” in California. For me, 1967 was the summer of hod-carrying. Thanks for all of your photos of Pittsburgh. They bring back many great memories. 🙂
This is a great collection of Carrie Furnace photos and the ground hog.
Ken’s comments resonate with me as my extended family income revolved around the steel mills in Shenango Valley.
That’s a fabulous sky.
Yes it was Amy. Thanks.
Great pictures! Signs of Pittsburgh past.
Thanks Sue

Ah, the light, what we look for when we photograph. And when you’re gifted with that ideal light, oh, the joy.
Yes. It’s a gift
Those are some serious clouds.
