Some grim tales. A card game from my Childhood.
Each family is made up of 4 cards.
Have you ever played Happy Families?
Happy Families is a traditional British card game usually with a specially made set of picture cards, featuring illustrations of fictional families of four, most often based on occupation types. The object of the game is to collect complete families, and the game is similar to Go Fish- Wikipedia

It’s too bad they don’t make card games like the ones you showed in this delightful post anymore.
If you were visiting we could play a few rounds.
That would be fun, Ruth!
What beautifully illustrated cards! I’d never get the game played for reading the stories. 🙂 🙂 But yes, Ruth, I have!
Thanks Jo. Are you walking under blue skies today? Going to go look.
I have never seen this! Beautiful illustrations. Thanks for sharing.
Something I have not heard / seen before. I wonder- are they still produced ?
I never heard of Happy Families, but I love the illustrations on the cards.
I’ve never heard of Happy Families. But I love the art.
We never saw these although we know the tales. So much fun. We really love all thing vintage. I remember what were called railroad salvage stores where you could find vintage items. Your post brought them to mind.
These are gorgeous Ruth. A real collectors’ item :). Even better with the memories of childhood.
Old school, like me. Thanks Rainee
Yikes – these are some intense illustrations! (And no, I have never heard of this game before.)
