The scent of Hyacinth smells like Easter to me. I wouldn’t want to wear it as a perfume, though.
I’d thought it a female name but looked up Hyacinth in Greek Mythology and discovered he was killed by the bounce of a discus, attributed to Zephyr blowing on it.
Hyacinth – a breath of Spring and seem easily identified, even if you were blindfolded.
Could you distinguish the difference between – a lily, narcissus and hyacinth with just your olfactory sense?
Hyacinth Fragrance
– yes or no?

Yes! There was a TV comedy show, British?, where one of the main characters was Hyacinth- a female!
It was goofy and funny. Can’t remember name.
Keeping Up Appearances
I find their scent a bit overpowering
The pink ones seem to be more over-powering than the white or blue ones. Or that could be my imagination.
Love them in the garden, not in the house. Scent us too strong for me.
I probably have smelled them but I don’t know one flower scent from another. Except for roses.
I’d have to say no because I don’t think I’ve ever smelled a narcissus . They are all very pretty and do remind me of spring.
I don’t know that I have ever actually smelled a hyacinth. However, I do love the smell of lilacs. (And they seem to be semi-similar appearance-wise.) 🙂
I can tolerate one in the house, but no more. Outside, as many as possible, I love the smell outside, with lots of air to dissipate the strong smell.
