Intimidating due to the number of them clustered together.
They are big!
Vultures do a lot of waiting – some of it in the air simply laying on their wings in the updrafts – waiting. Since they only eat carrion, they are waiting for something to die. You have to be efficient about waiting in that case.
Those turkey vultures look just plain creepy. My daughter, a mail carrier in Madison, WI., recently encountered an aggressive wild turkey on her route.
