First weekend of October, the Head of the Ohio Regatta hosted by Three Rivers Rowing Association and sponsored by UPMC.
The starting point was Washington’s Landing and the 3.2 mile race ended at the Point where the Allegheny River meets the Monongahela River and forms the Ohio River.
Grandson Michael was in the novice class. He’s in back seat in the 4 man boat. Unfortunately his 8 man boat was unable to race but we photographed his Olentangy Rowing Club teammates in their 8 man boat.
First two photos are taken near the Mazeroski Statue by PNC Park.
Vantage Point for 8 man boats was the Sixteenth Bridge above the Allegheny River.

I rowed in the head of the Ohio. I was in a mixed 8 and nervous as anything. But as we approached the Point I could hear my family yelling for me and my boat. Awesome! Rowing is great. Still do it in my basement. Hope Michael is enjoying it.

Very interesting. I went to a regatta once when I was a teenager; it was cool to observe. Nice that Michael gets to compete!
