Groundhog Day February 2nd

How it started- Groundhog’s Day first celebration in Punxsutawney was in 1886.

If Candlemas Day be fair and bright, Winter will have another fight. If Candlemas Day brings cloud and rain, Winter will not come again.

A Scottish saying:

If Candlemas be fine and clear, There’ll be two winters in the year.”

Here’s a 2014 blog post about the movie Groundhog Day filmed in Woodstock, Illinois.

  1. I remember reading one of your Groundhog Day posts many years ago, Ruth. So this post was fun to read tonight – hard to believe it is the year 2023!

  2. I’m very impressed you met Phil. Right up there with an audience with the Pope. Have you met the Pope?

  3. One of C’s friends came home and reported, “Mom! Did you know there is a corn dog that comes out of a hole, and if it sees darkness then we have ANOTHER winter after this one?” Gotta love the interpretations kids make out of things that don’t make a whole lot of logical sense…. 🙂

Thanks for your visit. It's always good to hear you stopped by.
