Although maplewood Longaberger Baskets went out of business in 2018, the basket building is a beloved icon of architecture.
“Its former corporate headquarters on Ohio’s State Route 16 is a local landmark known as the “Big Basket”.Built to resemble the company’s top-selling product, the “Medium Market Basket”, the seven-story edifice is a well-known example of novelty architecture. “ Wikipedia

That is an amazing building!
When it’s open to the public I’ll have to check it out.
Interesting!
Fun to see a giant basket along the highway.
Absolutely!
What a terrific building! It deserves something special, Ruth.
It will be a great place to stay I’m sure. Thanks Jo.
Cool! I’d stay at that hotel.
Me too, Sue.
What an interesting site to drive by! I think I have the medium market basket – must check. I do have a lot of Longerberger baskets and put them to good use storing things – still use the picnic basket. JB
I loved your basket photo. Thanks for sending.
I have always loved Longerberger baskets gcr
Not like your exquisite handwoven ones, though.
Ah, I remember these baskets in their peak days, but never owned one. It will be interesting to see how that hotel takes shape. Safe travels.
Thank you dear Audrey
I learn something new almost every time I read your blog and am getting close to applying for a tryout for JEOPARDY! This Longerberger info should put me over the top. dc
Not sure there will be a novelty architecture category 😢
