My Grandfather’s Sister Jessie
Jessie Margaret Van Sickle, born 1878 passed in 1904, my maternal Grandfather’s sister. She is his only sibling who made it to adulthood. She was studying the singing of opera from what I’ve heard.
“died of consumption” it says on the Find-A-Grave post.

Barely legible but I’m grateful for the pencil notes

It is really sad when you see stories like this. Reminds me of going to cemeteries and seeing lots and lots of children dying. So sad.
Yes it’s sad Leanne. Life must have been so difficult.
These old photos are priceless.
I agree Darlene.
You have such a great collection of family photos and history. It’s always fun to see them.
Thanks for looking and writing
I love the train of the dress extending over onto the mat. I’ve never seen that before in photos of that period. I sometimes do that with my paintings.
Yes I thought that was distinctive, too. Thanks for looking and writing Gaye.
I wonder why Jessie is not listed in the Bio with the other siblings? dc
It’s her page so it’s her siblings listed.
Such a tragedy. She was so young.
It is sad.
What a lovely portrait of a beautiful young woman gone too soon. If only those before us had the same level of medical care and vaccines we have today.
Thank you Audrey.
