Folding a Load of Towels

  1. Folding a load of towels can be satisfying. Bath towels, hand towels, beach towels, dish towels, washcloths. There are many ways to fold towels.

When I’m visiting my daughter I ask her to remind me how she folds her towels so I can replicate her method.

They need to fit on the linens shelf the way she’s accustomed to. Linen closet space might determine your preference.

I fold mine differently at home.

Do you think there’s a right way? A proper way? Do you fold/roll towels the way your mother did? Do you think about why you have a preference? Do your towels look like you’re in a fancy hotel or spa?

Here’s an article on Five Ways to Fold Towels

And there’s also the debate whether to Fold or Roll. Which is better?

  1. I fold mine like mom did. Hubby doesn’t and it drives me crazy. (I know, there are more important things to be concerned about!)

  2. I don’t fold like Martha because I hold mine up in the air to fold .(No Table style)

  3. Another great post. I never gave it a thought until I discovered Marie Kondo and her KonMari method for tidying. She has her way of folding everything. The photo of the towels in the drawer are a good example. I like that because as crazy as it sounds if you are looking for one particular towel (or tee shirt or just about anything you fold) it is right there for you. If you folded and stacked them like I used to do you would have to remove the stack and find it. Her folding method also makes it great for packing a travel bag. I will give the other methods here a try. Good job Ruth. dc

    • I think
KonMari method works well as you say for kids drawers especially. Love that you’re trying the other methods for fun but stick with what works. Right? It’s just something I was thinking about as I was trying to fold the same way Laura does

  4. I fold mine. Neatly but not fancy. Always put the just washed ones at the bottom of the stack.
