Creamy Rice Pudding and Custard in Cans

I saw these two Ambrosia cans on the shelf in the World Market (and there are other pudding choices in the store) in Columbus Ohio.

I didn’t purchase but was curious.

Perhaps a reader has tasted a these products and can give a review.

  1. These are very British and yes I have bought them for my very British husband as a treat. I can’t believe how expensive they are over there. They are available in some Spanish grocery stores for about 1.99 euros.

  2. They are an easy substitute and I have used them in the past but I’ve developed milk intolerance so no longer do. No substitute for the real thing though xx

  3. I always loved my mother’s homemade Rice, and bread puddings . She made a fresh dessert every day for us.

  4. Ha ha – I remember tins of rice pudding when I was a child, but home made is best. Ambrosia is a popular brand in the UK and considerably cheaper than $5.99!

  5. You use up your stale bread or left over rice with milk , sugar , vanilla and butter and bake in a water bath. It was a popular in the 40’s and 50’s.
