Mangoes Ripening Still Life

Waiting for just the right moment.  Going to be mixed with fresh strawberries and served on Orange Granita.

Ripe

A simple bowl.
Tiles from Turkey.
Placed on a wide window sill.
Three mangos/mangoes sit.
The produce man asked,
“When do you want to eat them?”
as you make your purchase
on a Monday
at the stand.
“These will be ready
by Friday” he says
with authority.
(Almost.)

  1. Believe it or not, I’ve never ever eaten a mango! This picture really makes them look inviting.

  2. OH, how beautiful … like the mangos that dropped off my Uncle’s trees, or we picked warm and ate immediately!!! 🙂

  3. Reminds me of the time my son, Matthew, called me at 3 am as a freshman in college to confirm that he had eaten a mango. Yeah, college kids have different hours than their parents, but I was able to assure him and his roommate from Tanzania, that, yes, he had eaten a mango. 🙂 I was totally relieved that it was a silly question as opposed to a ticket or even a hospital stay, if you know what I mean!?!
