I like the title of the challenge in this time of year when the days are growing shorter. We’re asked to show the light source in our photos.
Just today I saw a box with a HAPPY LIGHT for sale, to ward off the season’s darkness and the impact it can have on your mood.
At school I teach about the different sources of light, manmade and natural. There are so many different types of light.
Here are some examples of photos showing a variety of light sources.
Bonfire in Virginia
Candles at St. Patrick’s Cathedral
Fireworks at Saint Rocco’s Festival Pittsburgh PA
Popcorn Neon at Kennywood Amusement Park
Birthday candles- Laura covering the boys mouth so they don’t help blow them out!
Erika’s Angel Lava Lamp last Christmas
Fun choices for light, I love your moonlight in the backyard.
All nice picture. I love the moonlight and the lava lamp the most… 🙂
Beautiful selection, Ruth.

Great photos! All of them.
I love them all – I couldn’t pick a favorite.
I think these are some of your best! Love these!
Thank you Cynthia
My favorites are the bonfire (stunning image), Laura’s birthday cake (I LOVE how both she and her husband have their hands over the boy’s mouths), and Jack with his sparklers (the image is so clear, and Jack looks SO happy!). Hmm… perhaps I have an issue with fire? 😉 Wonderful pics as usual, Ruth.

what a brilliant selection. my favourite are the 4th of July sparklers which is the epitome of the joy of life, and Laura covering the boys’ mouths. that one is too funny 🙂
What a beautiful series Ruth!! Laura’s birthday shot is my favourite too. And the angel lava lamp.
Thanks Madhu
Gorgeous light gallery! Great selections.
Thank you Amy. 🙂
So many happy light moments Ruth and Jack’s eyes are as bright as those sparklers!
Thanks Patti. Always appreciate your good words on the blog 🙂
Beautiful. Very especially the candles on the cake. Joyous.
It’s always fun to photograph fireworks, but you’ve really captured the magic there in that candle lit cake photo and in the last one with the young boy with “whatever it’s called” in his hands. 😀

Great collection, Ruth, and reply for the challenge. Jack’s eyes are about as lit up as are the sparklers he’s holding. 🙂
