Mazeroski in Moonlight After the Gala

You now how I like to photograph the Bill Mazeroski statue down by PNC Park and the Allegheny River. The statue captures the moment he ran into home plate , winning the 1960 World Series for the Pittsburgh Pirates.

My dad was at that game.

Tonight the moon was out. Steve and I were on our way home from the National Kidney Gala at Heinz Field.  BTW the photo I donated went for a nice amount in the Silent Auction so that felt satisfying. Such a good organization. 80% of donations goes directly to the patients and their needs. The number of people with kidney disease is staggering. Attendees were incredibly generous especially when in a 10 minutes blitz they raised about $25,000.

Steve took this picture of me with Mill Firelight on the Mon.

Christmas Lights, Candlelight, and Moonlight

Taking up Becky’s January Square Challenge of LIGHT.

Not my house, but it is so inviting and the candles are flickering along the sidewalk.

And yes, that is the moon up at the top of the photo.

The temperature dropped to 32 and the lights shine in the darkness, making winter beautiful.

Becky says (via Cee’s Photography post of a lighthouse at Twilight)

I’m proposing our January squares are filled with words ending in light that means one or more of the following; sunlight, floodlights, firelight, skylights, candlelight, sidelights, starlight, footlights, moonlight, streetlights, torchlight, taillights, gaslight, headlights, or, as I have today, twilight – whether that be the astronomical, nautical or civil twilight. And feel free to find your own _____light, there are more than 50 words which end in light!

When we pulled up to the stop sign, we saw Kennywood  Fireworks at seemingly eye level because their street is up so high.

Moonlight Commute

Headed to the garage, time for school.

I make tentative choices- try to place my feet

When I unlock the car,  the rear lights show where it’s rough on the

temporary ice rink.

A couple of grainy cell phone pics,  try to capture the moon, the mood-

then off to work.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Let There Be Light

I like the title of the challenge in this time of year when the days are growing shorter.  We’re asked to show the light source in our photos.

Just today I saw a box with a HAPPY LIGHT for sale, to ward off the season’s darkness and the impact it can have on your mood.

At school I teach about the different sources of light, manmade and natural.  There are so many different types of light.

Here are some examples of photos showing a variety of light sources.

Mazeroski in Moonlight, After the Prom

Pittsburgh Carrick 2013 Senior Prom was held at the Lexus Club at PNC Park tonight.

I went and took pictures of the kids and it was a great evening.  My friend Steve picked me up and then had to turn the car around to be in the homeward direction.

This is what we saw at the circle by the Bill Mazeroski statue-

I got out into the chilly air and took a few shots.  The clouds kept drifting over the moon, making the clouds luminous.
