Horizontal Rainbow Segment

St.George Island, Florida

Friday afternoon. July 1st.  No rain in sight.

But a sliver of rainbow spotted in a beautiful sky.

  1. Known as a “Fire rainbow” or circumhorizontal arc. Seen only in the middle latitudes 6 weeks on either side of summer solstice. Must have cirrus clouds with the sun at an angle of around 50 degrees. Pretty rare.
