Ruth – Thanks for the memories. I grew up on the North Side, but not in that area. (I grew up near the corner of Woods Run and Brighton Road.) I haven’t lived in Pittsburgh since 1969, but I was curious about the location so I just looked at Google maps, and I think the parking garage on which you were standing was the one for Allegheny General Hospital. The second photo is the intersection of Knoll St. and James St., and I’ll bet the large yellowish-orange building is in the 5th photo was the School House Apartments. Correct?
Those houses are really packed tight. Love the images, but not the lack of room.
