Friday morning was the Chili Cook-Off at the Stephen Foster Community Center. Lawrenceville. Four out of the five entries were Vegetarian and the Spicy Bison prepared by Kathie H took first place. It was very flavorful.

It was a tasty event and I enjoyed participating. I cooked a Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili with Sweet Potatoes a recipe from my daughter Laura which my friend Vincie was able to pull up on her computer.
I used silver sugar tongs to put some corn chips in little snack bags.

Photos of delicious food but no recipes 😔
If you click the “Slow Cooker Vegetarian with Sweet Potatoes” words it’s a link to the recipe I used for mine. I didn’t have the others but I could ask I guess if you’re interested
Thanks Ruth much appreciated
Interesting that 4 out of 5 were vegetarian. Did you get to judge?
Everyone who tasted them got to put a ticket in a cup for their favorite.
Sounds delicious. Looks like a very fun event.
It was fun to participate
Where do I start? I shy away from anything vegetarian because in my experience they often have lots of vegetables in them. Mushrooms seem to find their way in. Sweet potatoes are okay if made into French fries. I like Texas style chili because beans are on my no-no list. However I might consider garbanzo beans as I have used them in my morning smoothie without any unpleasant side effects. I haven’t had the nerve to ever try Bison. I assume you used the tongs to put the chips in baggies because you have touched mushrooms and even thoroughly washing your hands that s… NEVER comes off. Finally, on a positive note for the next best seller blog mystery I write that bad ass Vincie character will put her computer skills to use. Dc
😂
A bowl of chili always hits the spot – I’d go for the vegetarian. gcr
Sometimes it is hard to believe we grew up in the same house. (But I’m glad we did) dc
I love chili! I make mine with ground beef, red and green peppers, onions, garlic and black beans. I always wanted to try Laura’s sweet potato recipe —that’s why I had it saved— but, I never made it. (Tell dc that I’m looking forward to his next installment of the adventures of bad ass Vincie.)
What a fun event to take part in. I’m surprised so many were vegetarian. It all looks delicious!
They were all good.
We’ve been trying to eat less meat so I will have to give your recipe with sweet potatoes a look.
Let me know how you like it. You can do in an enameled cast iron Dutch oven quite nicely too
Oh what she is missing by not eating all those yummy foods.
Oh, this looks like tasty fun.
Definitely
I love me some chili!!
You would have enjoyed sampling these.
A vegetarian-forward chili cookoff; my kind of event! 🙂
You would have had lots of choices
