Throwback Thursday

Morris Plains Borough School – New Jersey
Yes I made the dress. It was white piqué. I didn’t remember the nose gay. I know I was fourth in line to march in as they lined us up by height for some odd reason.
It was a long time ago.

I’m impressed that you made a dress of that caliber in eighth grade! How sweet you looked in it! I graduated from eighth grade that year as well. So you grew up in NJ? So did I! But mid-Jersey at the shore, Rumson. And I attended three semesters at Duquesne in Pgh. before transferring twice.
We had home ec classes. I sewed my jr snd sr prom dresses, and even a Vogue pattern wedding gown (1974). Maybe we crossed paths Andrea?
Good job on the dress. I sewed my own clothes at that age too. I was married and had my son in 1966 (way too young I know)
Thank you Darlene. A different time.
Impressive!
Thanks Sheree.
Beautiful picture! Great job on the dress. I would have been at the end of the line!😁
Awww. Thank you Sue.
Beautiful picture of you Ruth. You did a great job on the dress. It’s always fun to go back and look at pictures from years ago. Another precious memory.
Thank you Carrie.
Great picture, love the dress! I was also making my own clothes in home ec class, it’s what we did back then.
You are so right, Pam. It’s what we all did.
I lived in Plain Field N.J. for a year in 1968 with my husband. I think it is next to Morris Plains. Then back to Pgh.
Neighbors! ❤️
I didn’t get to take home ec, boys had to take shop class. I get all my knowledge about home ec stuff now thru your blog. Tuna sandwich on the menu for tomorrow. Minnesota Hotdish coming up soon. dc
Wondering what you created in wood shop. Always good to know the posts inspire cooking!
I initially thought this was a Confirmation dress. It’s beautiful. I, too, sewed most of my clothes a long time ago.
I remember when gcr
❤️
Looks soo cute I make them all the time for all my kids!
I really loved the dress you made! It was so beautiful, and the photos you shared captured it perfectly. They brought back such lovely memories. I did try my hand at sewing dresses for my grandchildren, but it never quite worked out as I had hoped. Each attempt seemed to have its own little hiccup, and I ended up with more fabric scraps than finished garments! Still, I cherish the time spent with them, even if my sewing skills didn’t shine through. I found your blog while scrolling and I really enjoy it. What inspired your design?
