My Go-To Comfort Food

Comfort food.

“Comfort foods may be consumed to positively pique emotions, to relieve negative psychological effects or to increase positive feelings.[4] The term was first used, according to Webster’s Dictionary, in 1977.” Wikipedia

A topic I study and explore from time to time.  Take a poll.

In fact, i asked this question just last December.

I was with a friend on Saturday and we were talking about eating in response to stress.

His choice? a pint of Ben and Jerry’s (i forget which flavor)

It’s a new school year.

“Comfort food is traditionally eaten food which often provides a nostalgic or sentimental feeling to the person eating it,[1] frequently with a high carbohydrate level and a simple preparation.[2] The nostalgic element most comfort food has, may be specific to either the individual or a specific culture.[3]” Wikipedia

Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

  1. My special comfort food is dark chocolate coated licorice bullets! I ate a 400gm pack the other day and they worked wonders 🙂

    • I have not ever tasted dark chocolate coated licorice bullets but will endeavor to search them out and eat some and think of you. Where are they made? Going on a search. I like licorice. I like dark chocolate. But I have never eaten them combined.

      • Hi Ruth, they are fairly common in most supermarkets here. I bought a Hershey bar recently as I had heard about them on American TV shows but had never tried one. I did enjoy it 🙂
Good luck in finding the bullets!

  2. Mine is akuri on bread (akuri is an Indian style scrambled egg, and verrry nice), or buttered toast dipped in masala chai..

    • Mmmm. Thanks for sharing your comfort foods. Bread seems to be the basis for many comfort foods. Buttered toast sounds great!

  3. Those grilled cheese sandwiches look delicious. I can’t say I have a specific comfort food. All food comforts me.

  4. I like Sue’s comment: all food comforts me! 🙂 These grilled cheese make me want to jump into the computer!!! 🙂

  5. I do love a good grilled cheese sandwich, Ruth, and yours set my mouth to watering. Still, if we’re talking comfort foods, it may surprise you to learn that mine is pasta. 😀
