Happy Go Lucky Hearts Hotel (and Hostel) In Berlin’s Charlottenburg neighborhood.
Mural Art by Dom Browne, artist from Kildare Ireland. This is a LOT of mural painting, Dom.
Click here to see a gallery of the details of Mr. Browne’s Happy Go Lucky Hearts painting. You will find lots of recognizable iconic images- Bruce Lee, Rich Uncle Pennybags, Mary Poppins, Jack Nicholson, Curt Kobain, minions, emojis, Batman, to name a few
The colorful Happy Go Lucky Hotel really stands out- right next door are regular buildings.

I don’t think I’d ever get bored looking at the paintings on that hotel!
I wonder how long it took the artist to paint all that!
I will try to find out how long it took him.
Dom Browne the artist says “i painted the ground floor in 2014 and that took about 5 weeks because it’s full of detail done with standard brushes
i painted the 1st to the 5th floor in 2016 and it took 8 weeks on a cherry picker done entirely with spray cans
apart from the ‘HAPPYGOLUCKY HEARTS’ lettering up the top, there was no plan for the rest so i free-styled it day to day, going back over areas with layers until i thought it was done!
it was a hugely enjoyable project!”
Love this. Just seeing the building makes me smile.
So colorful 😀
Wow! Who wouldn’t want to stay there? “Don’t worry … be happy”
This is so pretty!
What fun! But my eyeballs are hurting 🙂 🙂
Whoa. That is SIGNIFICANT. I wonder what the neighbors think? 😀
The city of Berlin just recently won a court case, whereby the Hostel will be forced to paint over the mural (either in beige or gray) because it is “too aggressive and causes senses to be overwhelmed”. Seriously, the city even has a map of murals on buildings in Berlin on its visit Berlin site……. In this case the in this specific district, officials have for unknown reasons set their sights on removing a wonderful piece of art. Truly confounding.
Oh that is disappointing to learn but I thank you for telling me in the comment.
