There are bits of actual peppermint stick in the ice cream. My mother always enjoyed this flavor which would be in stores around Christmas.
I’m in Ohio overnight and this afternoon Laura texted me from the store. “Do you want anything?”
I said Peppermint Stick Ice Cream!
She didn’t just buy any old container, oh no, she bought the premium brand– Graeter’s
Extra smooth and rich. I find it refreshing and totally satisfying. Nostalgic, too.
I know that Penn State Creamery has Peppermint Stick Ice Cream in stock now. It’s seasonal. You can order for delivery to 48 states. I only know this fact because my dear knitting friend Terry, orders up this flavor and has it shipped to her. She has a nice supply in her freezer.

My favorite holiday treat! Brings back happy memories!
I’m glad it did.
You took me back to my childhood, Ruth. I haven’t thought of Peppermint Stick ice cream in a very long time. My mom, too loved it. 😍
You don’t hear much about it these days. You’ll have to find some this year.
I know I would love it! I hope you enjoyed the treat.
You’ll have to give it a try. Yes, it was good!
Yum
Also a childhood memory for me. Yum!
Isn’t that something that it’s from our childhoods?
My family’s favorite. Every year they ask me to make an ice cream cake, using peppermint ice cream, at Christmastime.
Oh is that recipe a secret? Sounds delicious
It’s not a secret, and it’s very simple. I buy an angel food cake, slice it sideways into thirds, put peppermint ice cream between the layers, and then use sweetened whipped cream as frosting. I also sprinkle crushed peppermint pieces on top, and then put the entire cake in the freezer.
Sounds divine! Thank you
I might have to try that, it looks great Ruth.
A friend suggested to put it on a warm brownie. 😂
