My friends Linda and Eileen baked a delicious fruitcake and shipped it before Christmas. I guarded it carefully and was waiting for my sister to arrive for a visit. She arrived on the train from NYC Tuesday night. Tonight I unwrapped the liquor soaked muslin and sliced it by candlelight. We each ate a piece, savoring the fruits and nuts that were perfectly delicious.
Do you like fruitcake? Not everyone does. We enjoy it immensely. Thank you Linda and Eileen. Voted Best Fruitcake in the USA!
My husband loves L&E’s fruitcake. He makes it last almost a year.

Don and I both like fruitcake. I have a White Fruitcake recipe from my sister in law who was raised in England. It’s also very good.

Glad you love it as much as we do! We have just a half a loaf left and parse it out sparingly until next year! Easy to make more but the anticipation and the holidays make it special so we will wait. 🙂

My sister Mary makes a wonderful fruitcake and I have a bit of it left in my freezer. It’s such an elaborate and lengthy ritual — she lovingly “feeds” the fruitcake periodically by dousing the cheesecloth with rum. I’m lucky to be the recipient … she drove from Canada to WshDC to visit her daughter, brought some fruitcake along, and then mailed it to me from there. Precious cargo. I personally have never made it, but do make fruitcake cookies every year, and people who don’t like traditional fruitcake still like those cookies! JB
