Sunseri’s in the Strip District makes a delicious Balsamic Tuna sandwich.
But you can’t always get there when you want one. So-
- Take a can of tuna in olive oil, drain well
- Splash some balsamic vinegar on it
- Finely chop some sweet onion
- A dollop of mayo and mix it up
- Split open a crusty bread roll (as we say in Pittsburgh)
- Put in the roll and add sliced tomatoes, I had cherry tomatoes
- Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan on top

Yum. My kind of sandwich!
Anyone who tries it seems to like it.
Now I want a tuna sandwich!
Enjoy your sandwich!
I didn’t make, have no tuna at home 🙂
Future sandwich then.
Future sandwich for sure!
I know what I’m having for lunch today!
Yum!
It was very good. I will definitely make it again!
Not me!
It’s not for everyone
Looks great, I’ve never tried Balsamic Vinegar on my tuna. I’ll have to give it a try.
Please let me know how you like it.
Sounds like a good Friday menu for me. All I need is tuna, onion, balsamic vinegar, parmesan, tomatoes and some good bread….I have mayo! dc
The good bread is key! Guess a trip to the store is on your to do list.
Sounds delicious.
It’s very good.
Never thought of using balsamic in tuna, I’ll give it a try.
It’s a wonderful addition.
I’ll be making this very soon – just need the crusty bread! I can remember vividly watching that sandwich being made in Sunseri’s when I was visiting you years ago, Ruth. I don’t always have a good memory but this is one I’ve held onto all these years. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. JB
Come visit again. We’ll get one made for us!
I haven’t had a tuna sandwich in years. I ate too many in college. But your version looks quite tasty.

When I got home this evening, I couldn’t decide what to make for dinner. Then I looked at today’s blog. Fortunately — unlike dc— I had all of the ingredients for this simple sandwich in the house. And . . . It was deeeelicious! Yum! I can’t wait to make it again! (Note to dc: Buy the ingredients and make. You won’t be sorry.)
Excellent advice for dc. I’m so glad you were inspired to make it by reading the post! And for telling me you enjoyed it.
I’m on it Vincie. Thanks for the recommendation. dc
