Simple Sandwich

Sunseri’s in the Strip District makes a delicious Balsamic Tuna sandwich.

But you can’t always get there when you want one. So-

  1. Take a can of tuna in olive oil, drain well
  2. Splash some balsamic vinegar on it
  3. Finely chop some sweet onion
  4. A dollop of mayo and mix it up
  5. Split open a crusty bread roll (as we say in Pittsburgh)
  6. Put in the roll and add sliced tomatoes, I had cherry tomatoes
  7. Sprinkle freshly grated Parmesan on top

  1. Looks great, I’ve never tried Balsamic Vinegar on my tuna. I’ll have to give it a try.

  2. Sounds like a good Friday menu for me. All I need is tuna, onion, balsamic vinegar, parmesan, tomatoes and some good bread….I have mayo! dc

  3. I’ll be making this very soon – just need the crusty bread! I can remember vividly watching that sandwich being made in Sunseri’s when I was visiting you years ago, Ruth. I don’t always have a good memory but this is one I’ve held onto all these years. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. JB

  4. When I got home this evening, I couldn’t decide what to make for dinner. Then I looked at today’s blog. Fortunately — unlike dc— I had all of the ingredients for this simple sandwich in the house. And . . . It was deeeelicious! Yum! I can’t wait to make it again! (Note to dc: Buy the ingredients and make. You won’t be sorry.)
