Writing a Grocery List

We were sitting at the dining room table. The afternoon light was nice.

There’s just one item on this list.

And Laura wrote it.

Cantaloupe.

Roy (2 3/4) is busy writing down some other items he’s like to get at the grocery store.

This is the third time I’ve posted about grocery lists it’s a topic I think about frequently.

You eat. You need to shop again. Cook. And then again. You need ingredients.

Do you make a list to take to the store?

I write a list and then forget to take it with me. I love finding other people’s lists in the cart. (Click to see old post)

  1. I always make a list and if I forget it, I have to go home and get it! (But I am a list maker from way back, maybe from when I was Roy’s age.)

    • The taking of the list is crucial for a successful trip to “stock the larder” (my mother’s phrase). Thanks Sheree.

    • Thanks for sharing your method. I should have asked if any of the readers veer from the written list, too.

  2. I write a list . I add to it during the week. I keep it by the back door so I don’t forget it. Of course ,I get other things I see in the store. I like to shop. Good exercise for me.

  3. First thing on my list is “make a list” and I go from there. I often forget to bring it with me but luckily my mind is like a steel trap and I have total recall. Well, the word total is a stretch and I only recall that I made a list but sometimes I can remember right where I left it and that there were a number of things on the list. I continue shopping and when I get home the big search is on for the list. If I get 3 out of 5 I consider it a win. dc

  4. The never ending grocery list. I keep my ongoing grocery list in my purse. It also includes items I need at Wal Mart and several other stores. Roy is doing a great job with his grocery list. He’s so darn cute.

  5. Always a list. I use my phone so I can tell Siri to add to it the minute I run out of something because if not, I’ll never remember. It’s a shared list with Jeremy so it’s always at the ready if I happen to be at the store. I do love finding lists at the store tho.

    • I wrote a list this morning, paper and pencil . Left it on the kitchen table. Got to store. Came home. Looked at list. Forgot eggs. Went back.
