Two Types of Bracket Fungus

Just documenting natures amazing fungus today.

Have you observed any bracket(also called shelf fungus) fungus lately? I never knew about bracket fungus..there are many cool names-

Chicken of the Woods and Beefsteak Fungus are two.

So you ask what’s the difference between turkey tail and false turkey tail. I did not look at the underneath of the fungus so I couldn’t say

“The main difference is the underside: true turkey tail has tiny, visible pores on a clean white surface, while false turkey tail has a completely smooth tan underside with no pores.”

First time I’ve seen one. In fact it was Eileen who alerted me to the passenger in the back seat. How could I miss Betty White? I thought it was eye catching. Turns out you can order a $9.99 vinyl car window sticker of Queen Elizabeth, the Pope, LeBron James and a variety of other famous people, too.

Golden retrievers and bulldogs and a sloth are available.

Franconia Notch Park from the Car

The Granite landmark Old Man of the Mountain or Great Stone Face in New Hampshire collapsed more than twenty years ago. There’s an article about how it happened.

“Today, visitors can follow a scenic pathway to Profile Lake and the new Old Man of the Mountain Profiler Plaza. Sculptors Ron Magers and Shelly Bradbury created a series of steel profiler rods which point toward the cliff where the Old Man once stood. When a visitor sights along the edge of one of the rods, the Old Man’s profile comes into view.”
