Snowflakes on a Wrought Iron Railing

The wrought iron railing on my steps going into my house, captured snowflakes when it was snowing lightly this morning. It was so cold they froze right on the metal. No two snowflakes are alike.

A famous snowflake photographer from Jericho, Vermont was Wilson A. Bentley. (link to a book of Wilson A. Bentley’s amazing snowflake photographs)

For over forty years, Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley (1865–1931) photographed thousands of individual snowflakes and perfected the innovative photomicrographic techniques” Smithsonian

Street Parking Space Savers

The first photo is from 2010. What they called Snowmageddon.

STREET PARKING PLACEHOLDER

Street Parking Space Savers- revisiting Snowmageddon 2010. Many people are experiencing more snow right now. So is it a Pittsburgh thing? You see all kinds of chairs reserving parking spaces all around the city after someone has shoveled out their space, planning to return to it, later.
I’ve seen a port-a-crib to reserve a parking space!

And here’s the update on our 2026 snow. Thursday the fourth day that school is cancelled.

Schools closed again tomorrow. The mayor has declared a State of Emergency for Pittsburgh. Many plows are broken and streets aren’t able to be cleared.
