Brothers Reed House Concert Weekend Pittsburgh PA

Early Saturday Morning, The Brothers Reed, Phil and Aaron, and their friend and cameraman Daniel hit the road for a Saturday night gig in New York City. The brothers from southern Oregon and Daniel in from L.A.

Friday night the brothers played a House Concert at my home. An enjoyable evening of great music, shared with good friends.

Their mom’s high school friend drive down a couple of hours from Erie for the concert.

I’d hosted the Brothers in May 2016, too.

Earlier in the day we drove around the city. I gave Daniel and Phil an abbreviated tour of the city. I blogged the flooded rivers yesterday. Here’s Phil by Duquesne Incline up on Mt. Washington.

The Brothers Reed Play Pittsburgh

The Brothers Reed drove from Oregon to Pittsburgh with stops along the way.

Tomorrow it’s Atlantic  City, New Jersey and Sunday they are playing in New York City. A musical tour. They contact me last November about playing in Pittsburgh and I said let me see if I can find someone to host.  You know when no one else said yes, I called them back and said Come on to Pittsburgh. They found me through a blog post about the house concert with Christopher Mark Jones

Oh, are they good.

When they were warming up in my living room,I was sitting in the dining room and  the first sweet chords and clear harmonies brought a lump in my throat, I was so moved by their song.

The audience clapped heartily and were enthusiastic for their music.

My neighbors lent me chairs AND Joaquin set them up. Thanks Joaquin and  Suzanne.

 

 

The fragrance of basil fills the foyer, thanks to Jill. Love the Italian baking pot!

And thanks to Roberta for the homemade goodies and Joan for her bread. Other friends and neighbors brought some wine.  Nice.

Music Makes the House Come Alive

 

 

 

 

Saturday night, Christopher Mark Jones accompanied by David Hart on Mandolin.Expert musicians played two sets to an appreciative audience.  Their music made the house come alive.

Laura and James came in from Columbus to help host. I couldn’t have done it without them.  We made a Gourd Tree on the cupcake stand my friend Joanne sent last birthday. I baked a New York Cheesecake, the kind with no crust where you start at 500 degrees then turn it down to 225 and let it bake undisturbed into the night after you turn the oven off.

L said it was the best house concert she had ever attended!  Everyone seemed to be in agreement that it was a wonderful concert and lively evening.  Friends and neighbors joined in singing a few choruses with the sing along portion and the house lent itself  with a warm, welcoming spirit and ambience.

They left their umbrellas at the door.  The threat of five days of rain with Sandy coming up the East Coast didn’t prevent anyone from coming.

It was a lovely, musical event.  Thanks to Christopher and David!   The candles provided a warm glow.
