Eileen shares 2023 Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular photos taken in Providence, Rhode Island at Roger Williams Park Zoo
“Linda and I discovered this totally fun event a couple of years ago and now we make the effort to go every year. The theme changes but the experience is the same as it takes us back to fond childhood memories of anticipating the excitement of Halloween. Living in the city, I collected a ton of candy and used a pillow case as most bags or buckets were just too small! I remember dumping it all on my bedroom floor and then organizing by candy type. I could trade the ones I didn’t like or leave them until last! My Favorite was Milky Way and Caramel Cremes. A person on our street was a sales person for M&M Mars and they always had FULL SIZE bars. There was a line at that house 🙂 A Wise Potato chip distribution facility was down the street and everyone on that street had a variety of chips so we always saved that street for last so the chips didn’t get crushed by candy. Fond memories of Halloween for me.

Thanks Eileen. Last years blog was popular. Thanks for sharing your photos this year.

Waiting to be picked up by a passerby. Had to pull over to photograph these discards.

During the Pandemic, I’ve been fortunate to receive photos from family and friends who live in different locations. They contribute to the blog and add interest. This is a collaborative effort by neighbors in Massachusetts.
I received a photo of an owl sitting on a snow covered wall from my longtime friend Linda Dempster.

Later Linda sent me another photo of the owl who’d flown up in a tree. She’d received it from her neighbor. I asked her to ask the neighbor if they’d consent to the owl in the tree photo being posted on the blog. So thank you Linda and neighbor Anne Laibe Bertalino for the interesting owl photos and being the guest bloggers today.

In 2012 my most popular post was from guest blogger Shuey in Florida with his barred owl photo.
