A Prancing Lamb

A vintage ceramic prancing lamb has been in my friend’s home at least fifty years and in her mother’s home long before that.

I visited my friend Tookie today to share our knitting projects progress and sit on her front porch.

We even talked about our gratitude for sheep and the wool they provide for our use. The. She showed me this vintage ceramic lamb. We checked it out on eBay to get more information on Kay Finch.

There’s a book by Mike Nickel about Kay Finch Ceramics going for $99.99 on eBay.

Spotted Monday afternoon, as I got into my car. I was leaving Columbus to return home to Pittsburgh. You know I’ve got that July Fourth birthday as an undercurrent theme so it caught my eye. I might be one of the few people who own an Uncle Sam nutcracker. It looked like the kind of item one would take to The Antique Road Show for appraisal but there it was, glued to a stone.

My Grandmother’s Nurse

That’s the only real detail I know, as told to me by my Aunt Rhea.

Grandmother Charlotte Van Sickle had what was called then a “nervous breakdown” as far as I could decipher. The woman in the floral dress came to help . Aunt Rhea said she was her nurse.

Not sure of her nursing credential .

Our Mom, Morgan le Fay and Slipcovers

Throwback Thursday.

This photo has to be taken in the late sixties. My sister’s cat on her lap- Morgan le Fay. I don’t remember our mom being particularly fond of cats. Her parents were avid birders.

I did a transfer of the photo onto watercolor paper in a class I took.

My sister and I were just saying wish we hadn’t discarded those slip covers. Slip covers were popular years ago. The yellow was much brighter in person. And a bold black stripe.
